Who’s Next? Kings fire Reggie Theus
In just 4 years, the Kings will be under their third head coach after the Kings fired Reggie Theus who had an unimpressive 6-18 start this season. He was just in his second season and hadn’t reach 100 games yet. He was 44-62 in barely over a year as head coach and will be replaced by assistant coach Kenny Natt who is coaching the Kings game tonight against the Timberwolves.
Along with Theus, assistant coach Chuck Person was also fired.
The ankle of injury of Kevin Martin and an unimpressive roster were not excuses top basketball executive Geoff Petrie and owners, Joe and Gavin Maloof. They publicly voiced their displeasure with the team’s overall direction after the team had just won one of their last eleven games.
“When you look at the overall level of performance that we’ve experienced this year, it’s just not where we want to be,” said Geoff Petrie. “Sometimes you just need to try a different voice if you want to try and change things. It’s not about just any one game.”
