Boston Celtics, Utah Jazz and the Dallas Mavericks prevail

Day 6 of the NBA Playoffs featured two blownout games and one exciting game that went down the wire. Derrick Rose was also awarded the Rookie of the year honors just prior tip off but like the award he got, he played like a rookie tonight unlike the other games. We also saw how the Mavericks crushed the San Antonio Spurs. As for Kobe Bryant’s back? It was really affecting him.

(2) Boston Celtics VS (7) Chicago Bulls

Boston leads series 2-1

With Kevin Garnett and Leon Powe already out for the Boston Celtics, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen and Rajon Rando knew they had to step up in order for the Celtics to win in the loud United Center against the Bulls. And so they did as they led the Cs to a 107-86 win against the Bulls.

Game 2 hero Ray Allen was also a big help with his 18 points and 3 three pointers.

The Bulls really had no answer for the teamwork that the Celtics showed as their assists were outnumbered 23-14. The only bright for the Bulls in this game was that Derrick Rose was awarded the Rookie of the year, which I feel he really deserves after playing beyond his years.

As much as the Celtics were dominant in this game, they took a scare when Rajon Rondo had to be lifted off the court at the end of the game due to foot problems but he said he’s okay.

(3) San Antonio Spurs VS (6) Dallas Mavericks

Dallas leads series 2-1

The second game of the night featured another blowout with Dallas winning against the San Antonio Spurs 88-67. This could probably the game that will set the tone for the series unless the Spurs come back with a solution to score more against the defense of the Mavericks.

Dirk Nowitzki scored 20 points in just 26 minutes because as early as the third quarter the Spurs just didn’t have an answer for the Mavericks. Tim Duncan was also a missing piece as he only made 2-9 shots to finish the game with just four points.

There was no way the Spurs could have won the game after shooting 32% from the field as opposed to the Mavericks’ 47%. The Spurs need to play like they played in game 2 and control the boards more.

It looks like the trash talk done by Erick Dampier where he would hurt Tony Parker and the Spurs worked as they looked intimated and that translated to more energy on defense, leading to a win for the Mavs.

(1) Los Angeles Lakers VS (8) Utah Jazz

LA leads series 2-1

Carlos Boozer had a monster game with 23 points and 22 rebounds to lead the Jazz to victory against the LA Lakers, 88-86. Deron Williams, who has been playing big in this series, struggled with only three field goals on his way to 13 points. But he hit a big shot with less than 3 seconds left and that was all that mattered.

The bad back that has been bothering Kobe Bryant clearly affected him in this game as he went on to shoot a horrible 5-24 from the field and just finishing with 18 points. Andrew Bynum was in foul troble the whole game that’s why he only played 7 minutes.
