nba playoffs 2009: day 19
Paul Pierce only scored three points in this game but the Boston Celtics still won game 2 against the Orlando Magic, 112-94. Thanks to Eddie House’s 31 points, a triple double by Rajon Rondo and Ray Allen’s 22 points, the Celtics have tied the series.
Rajon Rondo had his third triple double of the playoff with 15 points, 18 assists and 11 rebounds. He also had two big dunks in the second half to help keep the momentum going.
Rafer Alston of the Orlando Magic will be suspended for game three for slapping the back of House’s head after he hit a three from the corner. This leaves the Magic with 34 year old Anthony Johnson and Tyronn Lue to man the point guard duties in the next game.
(2) Orlando Magic VS (3) Boston Celtics
Series tied at 1-1
(1) Los Angeles Lakers VS (5) Houston Rockets
Series tied at 1-1
Kobe Bryant’s 40 points proved too much for the Houston Rockets as they won 111-98 to tie the series at one game each. The Los Angeles Lakers took a big lead early thanks to Bryant’s 15 first quarter points but the resilient Rockets were able to make a comeback to tie the game by halftime but the Lakers firepower in the second half and Ron Artest’s ejection were a big help to them winning the game.
Pau Gasol, who started at center in place of Andrew Bynum, scored 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds to go with 4 blocks. Bynum, however, was held scoreless and committed three fouls off the bench in just 9 minutes of action.
This looks to be a very physical series as every game becomes more intense. This is the playoff and the more aggressive and physical team would have an edge but you also have to have a cooler head in order win it all.
