nba playoffs 2009: day 25
The Orlando Magic were beaten by Glen “Big Baby” Davis’ buzzer beater in game 4 and they wanted to make sure they didn’t have any more close finishes in this series against the Boston Celtics. Well, that didn’t happen in Game 5 as they blew a 14-point fourth quarter lead and make it close again in the final minutes of the game. The Celtics won 92-88.
The Celtics can thank Stephon Marbury for showing up tonight and playing like the old Starbury as he scored 12 points in the fourth quarter. The Cs also ended the game on a 17-3 run.
“From where I was, just being able to get back on the court after not playing the whole year, I know I’m blessed. I’m just happy that I had the opportunity to come out and help the Celtics win another championship.”
After the game, Dwight Howard expressed his concerns about coach Stan Van Gundy not getting him the ball that much.
“I have to get the ball,” Howard said. “I don’t think you are going to win a lot of games when your post player only gets 10 shots. It’s tough to get yourself going and get a lot of shots without a lot of touches. We have to get better with that.”

Everything right the Houston Rockets did in game 4 they forgot to do in game 5. Or should I say everything the LA Lakers did do in game 4 they forgot. Or should it be both?
I guess it’s both.
That was the recipe for a disastrous game 5 as the Houston Rockets tied their franchise worst playoff loss of 40 as they loss 118-78. Kobe Bryant, who was pretty much somewhere else in game 4, came back to life in game 5 as he needed just three quarters to score 26 points.
There was a lot of support this time for the LA Lakers as seven players scored at least 10 or more points. Pau Gasol had another double dobule with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Andrew Bynum, who is starting again, had a productive night by finishing with 14 points and 9 rebounds in just 19 minutes.
The Houston Rockets will try to force a game 7 but it would take their whole team’s effort if they would want to achieve this. They’re the ones now who have got to forgot what happened in game 5 and bring what they did when they won in game 4.
