Everyone knew that the Denver Nuggets were going to be an emotional team coming into game 5 of their series with the Dallas Mavericks. This was after the off court incident between Kenyon Martin’s mom Lydia Moore and Mavs owner Mark Cuban. It was settled as Cuban apologized but the Nuggets had to settle something else. The Orlando Magic were beaten by Glen “Big Baby” Davis’ buzzer beater in game 4 and they wanted to make sure they didn’t have any more close finishes in this series against the Boston Celtics. Well, that didn’t happen in Game 5 as they blew a 14-point fourth quarter lead and make it close again in the final minutes of the game. The Celtics won 92-88.

nba playoffs 2009: day 21

Heading into game three without Jameer Nelson or Rafer Alston, the Orlando Magic looked like a team that would lack leadership with a thin back court. No worries as 34-year old veteran Anthony Johnson did his job to help the Magic win 117-96 to take a 2-1 lead in the series.

Of course, the Orlando Magic wasn’t just about the back court, they were more of their one man front court – Dwight Howard. He was everywhere on defense – rebounding and blocking shots. He finished the game with 17 points, 14 rebounds and 5 blocks. (more…)

The best time for Chauncey Billups is the playoffs. Why? Because this is when he explodes and shows why he is called Mr. Bigshot. This is also a time where rookies also get an opportunity to show that they are mature enough and can handle the pressure and Courtney Lee showed us this. And of course, like all superstars, when you have a bad first game, you just use that as motivation and play better in the second game and this is what Mr. Dwayne Wade just did against the Hawks. Day 2 of the NBA Playoffs featured the other eight teams and was it an exciting night. We saw Iguodala hit a game winning shot against the Magic. Rudy Rudy Rudy! What a play

As a Suns fan, I hate seeing this done to my team but what can you say Rudy Fernandez had back to back great baskets where he scored 5 points in 3 seconds. It could have been better if it were in the 4th quarter and Portland was down 4 points huh? and it wasn’t against the Suns.

Houston Rockets forward Carl Landry was shot in the left leg at around 4 AM, Tuesday, while driving near his home. The injury was minor, and the team said Landry was treated at a hospital and released. – Yahoo Sports.
