nba playoffs 2009: day 9

April 28, 2009 By: Ongai Category: Playoffs

We have got two teams battling it out against each other and making their series a playoff classic. I’m talking about the Boston Celtics and the Chicago Bulls. It has got to be the most exciting series this year right?

Another series that’s looking really exciting is the one between the Orlando Magic and the Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers have won their two games on game winning shots as the Magic are having a hard time closing out games. But in game 4, it looks like the Magic can also hit the game winning shot.

The Houston Rockets and the Portland Trailblazers are also battling it out but it seems that experience is really key in the playoff and the Rockets have a lot of it compared to the young Trailblazers.

The Cleveland Cavaliers and the Detroit Pistons match up is officially the most boring series this year. Why? (more…)

nba playoffs 2009: day 7 and 8

April 27, 2009 By: Ongai Category: Playoffs

Apologies for the late posts the past two days since I was out of town and didn’t have any internet access. So what I will do here since most of you must have already read what happened in the games, I will just include the videos.

I feel bad that I had to miss the exciting games this weekend especially the game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Orlando Magic. That series is turning into one of this year’s exciting match ups as we’ve seen two game winning plays by the 76ers. While the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Detroit Pistons match up is just plain boring. Good thing this guy named Lebron is exciting to watch but the match up itself is zzzzzzz.

Finally the New Orleans Hornets won a game but it wasn’t a convincing game that would really scare the Denver Nuggets. But a win is a win and they’ll take that and hopefully they could build momentum from that win. As for the LA Lakers, it looks like they’re back on track after losing a game to the Utah Jazz.

One of the match ups I like this year is that of the Dallas Mavericks and the San Antonio Spurs. I’m rooting for the Mavericks here even if they indirectly ousted my favorite team, the Phoenix Suns. Miami Heat, after losing the first game, looks to have found the solution to beat the young Atlanta Hawks. Dwayne Wade has been playing well and so is playoff veteran Jermain O’neal.

So sit back, relax, grab your favorite drink and enjoy watching the videos: (more…)

nba playoffs 2009: day 4

April 22, 2009 By: Ongai Category: Playoffs

In Day 4 of the 2009 NBA Playoffs saw an almost 29-point comeback by the Detroit Pistons in the fourth quarter. This was after Lebron James had worn his warmups only to come back in the game to help his team finish the Pistons off 94-82. In the 2nd game, the Utah Jazz played a better game but still lost the game to Kobe Bryant and the LA Lakers 119-109. As for the Portland Trailblazers, they finally found a way to win in the playoffs as they beat the Houston Rockets 107-103. (more…)

NBA Playoffs 2009: Day 1

April 19, 2009 By: Ongai Category: Playoffs

In the first day of the 2009 NBA Playoffs we saw a lot of firsts. We saw all star point guard Brandon Roy get his first playoff basket. We also saw D-Rose having the poise and leadership to play like a veteran and lead his team to victory. A great game between the Mavericks and the Spurs was also shown where the Mavericks won for the first time on the road in the playoff since 2006.

This isn’t the first for anything for Lebron James but he showed us why he is the King in leading the Cavs to victory against the Pistons. Although, Lebron just loves the first game of the NBA playoffs. Remember when he had a triple double in his first ever playoff game? Here are the highlights from nba.com. (more…)

Today’s highlights shows why Jason Maxiell is a beast and how Javale McGee shows Maxiell who’s the real beast. TJ Ford brings the circus to town. We also get a tutorial from the Nuggets on how to run the fastbreak. And of course, we welcome Gilbert Arenas back and his one of ten assists in the game against the Pistons.

Will.By.Num and the Black Eyed Peas-tons

March 27, 2009 By: Ongai Category: Player Analysis

The Black Eyed Peas Detroit Pistons are trying to protect their 7th seed in the East with teams like the Bulls, Bobcats, and the rest of the East are trying to make the playoffs too. With starters Allen Iverson, Rip Hamilton, and Rasheed Wallace out, someone has to step up and that someone is Will.By.Num.

Will Bynum has been on fire lately averaging 16.7 points, 4 assists, on solid shooting from the field. His defense has also been great because of his athleticism and energy. Though the Pistons have lost six of their last seven games, the undrafted guard out of Georgia Tech has proven that he can step it up when needed.

As many of us were surprised and impressed just now, Joe Dumars and Michael Curry knew all along that this kid can step it up and play. After traveling around the world, from playing in the NBDL then the Golden St. Warriors to playing for Maccabi Tel Aviv in Israel, Bynum was called by Dumars to invite him to play for their summer league team. He, of course, was very impressive.

Will Bynum had another very good game as the Pistons starting point guard. His defense, running the offense and ability to drive to the basket and make something happen has to caught the eye of Joe Dumars and coach Curry. Bynum even showed he has leaping ability when he went up for a tomahawk slam that looked like his eyes were even with the rim. Too bad he was fouled on the play that prevented what would have been one of the best dunks of the summer. Bynum finished with 16 points, 3 assists and 2 steals in 28 minutes.

Like in our fantasy teams, Will Bynum was never drafted back in October but he has been impresive in helping our fantasy basketball teams in a lot of ways. I just hope your team is winning and not on a losing streak like the Detroit Pistons right now.

I’m a fan of Will Bynum now. How about you?

Here are some of Will Bynum’s top plays while playing for Maccabi Tel Aviv

You’ve got to love the East

March 26, 2009 By: Ongai Category: Fantasy Basketball

The NBA playoff is just a few weeks away and we still don’t know who is assured of the last two or even the last four playoff spots in the East. Right now the fourth-8th seed are the Miami Heat(38-32), Philadelphia 76ers(36-33), Detroit Pistons (34-36) and the Chicago Bulls (34-38). These teams aren’t safe yet since there are a some teams just a few games behind them. If you’re a fantasy basketball fan, you are probably loving the East right now. Why? (more…)
